Dahachowk:
Dahachowk village is one of the important historical places which is not much far from Kathmandu city. During the unification of Nepal, the great warrior Kazi Kalu Pandey was killed in the war with Kirtipur.
Kazi Kalu Pandey was one of the bravest warriors, and he put in his all efforts to win Nuwakot for his king in the beginning of unification process, and became successful in 1744. After this, he started conquering the various kingdoms of the valley. Kazi Kalu Pandey planned to blockade the valley by taking over strategic positions on the surrounding hills. Thus, Gorkha army under his generalship seized important sites such as Pharping, Shivapuri, Mahadevpokhari, Chitlang, Naldrum, Dharmasthali, and Siranchok. He then made Kirtipur the center of his attention. However, the Kirtipur army was a tough nut to crack, and in 1757, during the first attack on the town, Kalu Pandey was killed.
According to his wish, his grave was made in Dahachowk village from where Gorkha as well as Manakamana could be seen. Besides this, there are other religious places to visit such as Indradaha, Manakamana temple, Bidhabasini Temple. On a clear day, you will also see the beautiful Ganesh and Langtang Mountain peaks from Dahachowk.
